Dr. Paltis is also a certified Neuro-Linguistic\nProgramming (NLP) trainer; and both a Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET) and\nEmotional Freedom Technique (EFT) practitioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coffee and Soda Are Hydrating\u2014NOT! <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nIn thumbing through a Time Magazine last month, I came upon a full-page\nCoca Cola ad announcing the surprising result of new research showing that\ndrinks that are diuretics (like tea), or just plain bad for your health (like\nCoke), can be used by the body to hydrate.<br>\n<br>\nThe statement sounded rather biased and self-serving, to say the least.\n&nbsp;However, I am still willing to learn new things, so I went searching for\nthe source of this new research. &nbsp;Digging deeply into Coke\u2019s website, I finally\nfound two sources mentioned: 1.) The Beverage Institute for Health and Wellness\n2.) International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI).<br>\n<br>\nDid I say biased and self-serving? &nbsp;The Beverage Institute is a\nnon-profit, wholly funded by Coca Cola, and the ILSI is a Washington-based\nlobbying organization funded by Bayer AG, Coca-Cola, DowAgro \/Dow Chemical,\nDuPont, ExxonMobil, General Mills, Hershey Foods, Kellogg, Kraft and\nMcDonald&#8217;s.<br>\n<br>\nStick with the old cowboy song, \u201cCool, Clear Water.\u201d<br>\n<br>\nSpeaking of cowboys\u2014or at least their horses. A serious and often fatal problem\nfor horses is colic. &nbsp;I learned on M*A*S*H that lack of sufficient\ndrinking water can be one of the causes of this condition. &nbsp;So, I checked\nin with both a TBM chiropractic vet and a patient who owns horses about how\nmuch water a horse needs to stay healthy. In warmer weather, the average horse\ndrinks about 20 gallons of water daily. The average horse weighs 1100 pounds.\n&nbsp;That comes out to about 22 gallons a day at the same rate that we recommend\nthat people drink water. &nbsp;The recommendation for humans is 1 quart of\nwater\/50 pounds of body weight (or any part thereof)\/per day. &nbsp;Therefore,\na person weighing 156 pounds needs at least 4 quarts of water a day to be\nhealthy. &nbsp;More water is required in hot weather, with heavy exercise, and\nwith illness.<br>\n<br>\nI say if it is good enough for a horse, it is even better for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chronic Dehydration: The Hidden Cause of Symptoms <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fatigue <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allergies <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asthma <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acid Reflux <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heartburn <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peptic Ulcers <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Constipation <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diverticulitis <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hemorrhoids <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Polyps <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colon Cancer <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">High Blood Pressure <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gall Bladder Disease <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diabetes, Type II <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cataracts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\n<br>\nThese conditions are ultimately symptoms and diseases caused by\nlow-grade chronic dehydration. &nbsp;Acute dehydration\u2014usually associated with\nheatstroke\u2014causes thirst, loss of appetite, headache, pallor, dizziness, fever,\nflu-like symptoms, vomiting, rapid heartbeat and inability to concentrate. (see\n<em>Wellness News<\/em> 6\/04). [Actually, a less common problem, over hydration or\nhyper hydration, causes the same symptoms.]<br>\n<br>\n<br>\nFatigue is the first symptom, because water is the primary driving force\nin creating cellular energy. As little as a 1% water decrease leads to a\ntenfold energy decrease.<br>\n<br>\nDehydration triggers histamine release to regulate thirst and ration the\nbody\u2019s water when there isn\u2019t enough available. &nbsp;This causes allergies.\n&nbsp;You can take antihistamines to relieve the allergy symptoms, but they\nfurther increase the dehydration.<br>\n<br>\nDigestive problems occur because digestive acids and enzymes, which are\nwater-based molecules, diminish. &nbsp;One explanation of acid reflux is that\nfood remains in the stomach too long (due to chronic dehydration) and begins to\npush upward against the upper stomach sphincter, leading to heartburn and\nindigestion, bloating, constipation. &nbsp;Peristalsis (the muscular\ncontractions of the digestive tract that push the food along) and digestion\nrequire a lot of water. &nbsp;However, since the body\u2019s cells have priority,\nthe scarce water may be reabsorbed from the colon to put into the cells,\nleaving a dry impacted mass in the intestines.<br>\n<br>\nHere are five symptoms of deep chronic dehydration. Each symptom aids\nthe body in conserving water to protect vital areas of the body:<br>\n<br>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asthma <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allergies <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hypertension <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Constipation <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Type II Diabetes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\n<br>\nWater is becoming more acceptable as a drink of choice (especially if\nyou carry around chic bottles of designer water). But for many years, people\nconsidered it to be a sign of illness. &nbsp;About 20 years ago, my aunt spread\na rumor in the family that I had diabetes. Her information was based solely\nupon the fact that she saw me drinking \u201ctoo much\u201d water. &nbsp;And, of course,\nshe never asked me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signals of Thirst <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  Dry Mouth:\n  <\/td><td>\n  Drink water. \n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Hunger and Food Cravings (for sugar and starchy carbs):\n  <\/td><td>\n  Drink two glasses of water. \n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Brain: Depression, Anxiety, Irritability, Anger, Short\n  Attention Span, Impatience, Short-Term Memory Loss:\n  <\/td><td>\n  &nbsp;The brain is only 2% of\n  body weight, but it uses 15% of the blood and lymph circulation (water). \n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Morning Sickness of Pregnancy (histamine release):\n  <\/td><td>\n  Mother has to provide water for 1 trillion cell divisions of\n  fetus. &nbsp;Drink water and avoid dehydrators like caffeine and alcohol \n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Dark Yellow\/Orange Urine:\n  <\/td><td>\n  The body recirculates urine, when necessary, to conserve water.\n  &nbsp;Urine becomes very concentrated (and very acidic). &nbsp;Urine should\n  be very pale yellow. In general, if you are trying to balance your body\u2019s pH\n  based on readings of acidic urine, the first line of defense is plain good\n  quality drinking water. \n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nDehydration contributes to all dysfunctions and diseases through\nincreased histamine and cortisol release, increases blood acidity, and\ndecreases many enzymatic reactions. &nbsp;Further degeneration occurs when the\nproteins and enzymes (which are also proteins) gradually become less efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Causes Dehydration? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People don\u2019t drink water, because they don\u2019t like it and because\nthey think other fluids will fill the need. &nbsp;In a time of famine and\ndrought, that may be true. And such adaptations will enable a human being to\nsurvive in the short term. &nbsp;But they will not promote health. &nbsp;When\nyou don\u2019t drink enough water, your body might just as well be trying to survive\na drought in Somalia.<br>\n<br>\nAnother big problem\u2014and why we need more water than we used to (1 quart\/50 lbs\nof body weight\/per day) \u2014is that today\u2019s drinking water lacks vital energy.\nWater from the tap has been chemically treated to deal with the major\npollutants that will cause frank illness. &nbsp;So your body is trying to deal\nwith water polluted and devitalized by sewage and industrial wastes, and then\nwith water that has been further devitalized by chemical treatment. &nbsp;I was\ntaking a shower at my parent\u2019s condo in Miami a few years ago and the shower\nwater smelled much better than usual. &nbsp;I thought the community had\ninstalled water purification. &nbsp;Ha! &nbsp;A few days later I learned that\nMiami is now adding chemicals to their water to mask the smell of the chlorine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TBM and Cool, Clear Water <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TBM has several\ncorrections that specifically affect your body\u2019s ability to use the water that\nyou drink. &nbsp;A primary correction is Water Utilization. This harmonizes\npancreas and liver function so that your body remembers what to do with the\nwater you drank. Another of these corrections is Water Metabolism. &nbsp;If you\nexperience water in\/water out, you need these corrections. &nbsp;In addition,\nif you are at the stage where you dribble a little when you laugh or sneeze, or\nyou do not quite make it to the bathroom, at the very least, you need an\nabdominal lift. &nbsp;This gets your intestines back up where they belong,\ninstead of lying on the bladder. &nbsp;When the intestines have dropped, the\npressure on the bladder does not allow for filling of the organ. &nbsp;So a\nsmall amount of urine will set off a message to urinate (the micturation\nreflex), but there is very little to expel each time (overactive bladder). We also\nhave an allergy harmonization treatment for \u201cYour Drinking Water.\u201d &nbsp;The\nBody Fluids point regulates extracellular water, the Lymph point regulates the\nwater of the lymph, Circulation does the same for blood, and Cerebro-Spinal\nFluid correction balances the water of the brain.<br>\n<br>\nIf you can only drink water in tiny sips, you have the textbook definition of\nheavy metal toxicity of copper. The primary way to get this is from the copper\nplumbing your drinking water travels through (also from copper and copper-bottomed\npots and pans). &nbsp;The TBM treatment for copper toxicity will handle this\nalong with some specific nutritional chelators.<br>\n<br>\nPersonally, I purify my tap water with a reverse osmosis (RO) unit from\nhttp:\/\/www.ewater.com\/ &lt;http:\/\/www.ewater.com\/&gt;. &nbsp;Then I revitalize\nthe water. &nbsp;In the early 80s, I used pyramid generators. &nbsp;Now I use\nan electrical Vitalizer unit or homeopathically charged containers. &nbsp;The\naim of this process is to restore the normal hexagonal shape of pure natural\nwater molecules. &nbsp;When frozen, pure water molecules form hexagonal\ncrystals that look like snowflakes. &nbsp;Polluted water does not.<br>\n<br>\nE-water (Trinisol) produces Quanta Water\u0081. &nbsp;This is a frequency-treated RO\nwater that harnesses the energy of nature with harmonics that resonate in\nunison with the body\u2019s crystalline structures to energize our cells. [Source AARP]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost\n100% of dieters in a University of Washington study. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a\nday could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.\n[Remember TBM\u2019s Water Trick?] <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term\nmemory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen\nor on a printed page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drinking5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon\ncancer by 45%,slashes the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and bladder cancer by\n50%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hydration and Exercise <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For successful workouts, keep well hydrated before, during and after\nexercise. The length of workouts, heat, humidity and the amount you sweat are\nall major considerations for maintaining proper fluid balance. <br>\n<br>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start hydrating early by drinking 1-2 glasses of water in the\nmorning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep a water bottle with you all day long and drink from it.\n&nbsp;Refill it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drink before you get thirsty.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drink1-2 glasses of water 30 minutes before exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drink1\/2 &#8211; 1 glass of water for every 15 minutes of exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Replenish lost fluids (2-1\/2 glasses for every pound lost\nduring exercise). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep drinking even after your thirst is quenched. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\n<br>\nIf you exercise less than 45 minutes, water is the best choice.\n&nbsp;For longer workouts or high-intensity workouts, replacing electrolytes is\nbeneficial. &nbsp;You can make your own sports drinks by adding Celtic sea salt\nto water or a 50-50 water\/juice combination. &nbsp;Add a little Sucanat as\nwell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">**************** &nbsp;<br>\nThank you for your lovely referrals.
